Without the mud, there would be no lotus.

I hold the deep belief that every experience affects our mind, body, and soul and that our trauma does not define us.  I do not offer typical “talk therapy,” but rather an individualized approach to healing the whole person through the use of multiple modalities, such as EFT Tapping, Somatics, Life Coaching, and other trauma-informed therapies.  I seek to create a safe and nurturing space for my clients, in-person and online, so that healing can emerge from within.
I offer full 60-90 minute sessions that are focused on you.

The wound is the place where the light enters you. ~Rumi

Who I serve:

In my work with families, I consider the needs of the child or children as well as the whole family dynamic.  I have had the honor of working with children and adolescents with a variety of needs, utilizing a wide range of techniques that are individualized to their particular personality, challenges, and family culture.  Below are some of the methodologies I use:

  • EFT Tapping: Whole family support
  • Empowering children to recognize when they are dysregulated and use tools to help themselves through recognizing their emotional states through body awareness.
  • Empowering families to work together to regulate and work through challenges together
  • For little ones, I use the tapping book, Gorilla Thumps and Bear Hugs, by Alex Ortner
  • Encouraging intentional responses vs. reactions
  • Empowering parents to recognize their reactions and what is happening in their own body/mind in order to know what they need during challenging situations in the family
  • Working with children experiencing challenging behaviors, dysregulation, and those who are diagnosed with autism, ADHD and other neurodivergent traits.

We’ve been working with Kristen for over 7 years now and there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not grateful our paths crossed. She has been a blessing to my family beyond words.

My 11-year-old non-verbal son cannot wait for his weekly session. Kristen has connected with, and helped him in ways, I never could have imagined. My teenage daughter adores her and has been able to manage those crazy teenage years and emotions so much better thanks to Kristen! My husband’s work stress is more easily managed. And myself, well… there’s no question she’s helped me work through the stresses of life – past and present!  Kristen is more than just our “therapist”, she’s become family.

I could write a novel of all the amazing and wonderful ways Kristen has rocked our world for the better. She’s amazing, wonderful and just plain fantastic.

Don’t believe me, let’s chat! Ask Kristen for my contact info and I’m happy to spend some time sharing how life-changing sessions with her will be! ~HW, Colorado

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) tapping is a mind-body practice that combines gentle fingertip tapping on specific acupressure points with spoken affirmations to reduce stress, intrusive thoughts, and negative emotions.

Based on research, EFT Tapping resets the amygdala, promotes a 43% drop in cortisol, supports the reconsolidation of traumatic memories, and shifts the nervous system to “safe mode.” (The Tapping Solution)

How It Works

  • Acupuncture roots: It uses points on the face, head, and torso that match the meridian points used in traditional acupuncture, but without the needles.
  • Calming the brain/Nervous System: Tapping sends calming signals to the amygdala—the part of the brain that controls stress, helping lower cortisol levels and ease the nervous system.
  • Cognitive shift: You focus on a specific problem or emotional distress while reciting a self-acceptance statement, which helps reframe negative thoughts.
  • Teaching clients the protocols and work with them on helpful phrasing
  • Intuitively helping clients to pinpoint deeper issues, find words for their feelings, and cultivate phrases that will help them mitigate negative thoughts and experiences

Trauma, and abuse-related trauma, is a whole body experience, in which the pain is trapped in our body.  Trauma can trigger us emotionally and physically to re-experience a harmful moment as if it were happening in the present.

Trauma recovery gently moves these experiences from the present back to where it belongs in our emotional timeline.  While we remember that the trauma happened, they no longer elicit the same powerful emotional and physical responses they once did.

  • Supporting individuals in recognizing that abuse creates trauma
  • Unravelling what is real and true, as opposed to what the abuser has forced us to believe
  • Working through shame from abuse
  • Taking control of our nervous system that was “hijacked” by our circumstances/abuse
  • Reconnecting with our bodies, as we often disconnect from our bodies when we do not feel safe
  • Creating safety in ourselves, mentally, emotionally, and physically

When I first met Kristen, I’d been in traditional talk therapy for 15 years, and I’d slowly become worse and worse. I’ve experienced repeated, long term trauma for most of my 69 hears of life and I’d honestly reached a point where I’d thought about giving up all hope of ever finding peace.  Thank goodness I didn’t!!

On a referral from an educator, I contacted Kristen and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to work with her.  I didn’t have the slightest idea what to do to free myself from the overwhelming fear and sadness I felt on a daily basis.  She has guided me through healing so deep, I hadn’t believed it was possible.  But her goal hasn’t been to keep me coming back indefinitely. She’s given me tools to support healing on my own too.

In addition, she’s worked with my son to overcome his own long term trauma and the healing I see in him is nothing short of remarkable, truly.

I recommend Kristen to anyone who’s on a healing journey, but not making the progress they’re looking for.  She’s a miracle worker. ~YB, California

Kristen is an exceptional counselor and life coach, and I don’t say that lightly.

Having worked in the mental health field for over 20 years and having seen more than six individual therapists throughout my life, I can confidently say that Kristen has exceeded every expectation I had. Years ago, I had a counselor who helped me recognize my struggles, and later, a coach who helped me put names to those issues. But Kristen is the one who has truly helped me heal from the insidious and relentless effects of narcissistic abuse.

I genuinely look forward to our sessions each week. Kristen creates a space that is calm, safe, and welcoming from the moment we begin. Her grounded presence, gentle tone, and sincere intention to help me feel seen, heard, and understood make every session deeply meaningful.

She is the most insightful and intuitive counselor I have ever worked with. She has an incredible ability to sense what I need, offer thoughtful perspectives and compassionate feedback, and guide me toward deeper understanding without ever making me feel judged or pressured. I consistently leave our sessions feeling lighter, stronger, and more hopeful.

I’ve already recommended Kristen to more than half a dozen friends and acquaintances, and every one of them has shared how profoundly she’s helped them. She has a remarkable gift for uncovering what has been hidden, helping people navigate the hardest parts of their journey, and leading them toward genuine healing.

What truly sets Kristen apart is that her care extends far beyond the scheduled session. Whether it’s responding to a text on a difficult day or making time for a phone call when I’m falling apart, she consistently goes above and beyond. She also shares personal experiences that are relatable, authentic, and reassuring, reminding me that I’m human and not alone in what I’m experiencing.

I am forever grateful that Kristen came into my life. Her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering support have been transformative for my healing journey, and I have no doubt she is changing countless other lives as well. If you’re looking for someone who doesn’t just help you cope, but helps you truly heal, I cannot recommend Kristen highly enough.  – RZ – Colorado
